Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Operating Room in Milwaukee, WI. The role focuses on scrub duties, instrument handling, and providing comprehensive nursing care during cardiovascular surgeries.

The position requires Wisconsin RN licensure, ALS and BLS within specified timeframes, and a diploma in nursing. On-site PACU support and a rotating schedule with PRN opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Wisconsin required.
• Advanced Life Support within 180 days of hire (AHA/RED CROSS accepted).
• BLS within 30 days of hire (AHA/RED CROSS accepted).

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Delivering specialized care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical and other invasive procedures.

• Experienced in performing scrub duties, including the handling of complex instruments and supplies during cardiovascular surgeries.

• Proficient in monitoring, recording, and communicating patient conditions while managing overall nursing care throughout the procedure.

• Diligent in preparing cardiovascular operating rooms, surgical instruments, and specialized equipment for use.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• One or more of the following required:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

What additional preferences we're seeking

• Minimum of 2 years of recent CV Operating Room experience in an acute care hospital setting.

• Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, aseptic practice, and patient safety.

• Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
