Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the CCU/critical care units (SICU, MICU, Step Down). The 36-hour night shift role focuses on delivering high-acuity care within a Magnet-recognized organization.

Qualifications

  • Active Massachusetts RN license or eligibility.
  • 1+ year RN experience preferred.
  • BLS required; ACLS may be required in some units.
  • Nursing degree: Diploma/ASN/BSN; BSN commitment within 4 years.
  • Strong communication and bedside manner.
  • Physical ability to perform duties.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in CCU, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Communicate with care teams, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate care with interprofessional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
  • Follow policies established by BMC nursing organization.
  • Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.

ABOUT THE Critical Care/CCU DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER

The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) is an 10 bed unit that provides critical care nursing to complex cardiology patients. The types of patients that are frequently admitted include STEMIs, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, TAVRS (trans femoral aortic valve replacements) and patients with dysrhythmias.

As an RN in the Critical Care unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient‑centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Job Requirements
  • Must have active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus

Compensation Range

$38.05- $75.33

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
