Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac Care Unit on a full-time rotating schedule. You’ll care for patients with acute cardiac conditions and support families in a high‑level, world‑class environment.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license at time of hire.
• BLS CPR required.
• 1 year recent high acuity stepdown or ICU experience preferred; minimum 6 months ICU experience required.
• Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred with matriculation encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Care for cardiac ICU patients, including post‑infarction or post‑CABG care.
• Provide patient and family education and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Rotate shifts (12-hour day/night) with self scheduling in a 40-hour week.

Weekly Working Hours: 40-hours/week (20 12-hour shifts in a 6-week schedule)

Shift: 12-hour day/night rotations w/self scheduling

The Johns Hopkins Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit is a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit. The staff care for patients with acute myocardial infarction and complications including cardiogenic shock, post‑infarction angina and congestive heart failure. We also care for many other critically ill patients suffering from severe cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and life‑treatment arrhythmias. This is a cardiac medicine unit, therefore patients post- CABG, valve replacements, transplant, LVAD placement are transferred to the CVSICU (Surgical ICU) for recovery.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required at time of hire

• Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
• BSN (preferred) and applicants w/an ADN in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a BSN program.

Salary Range:

Minimum 39.64/hour - Maximum 61.45/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
