Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a Part Time Registered Nurse (CCCA) for the Comm Ctr for Child & Adoles in Staunton, VA. The RN provides age-specific psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents under supervision, following hospital policy and nursing standards.

Pay rate is $45.32 per hour (flat rate) with part-time scheduling. The successful candidate will have strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to educate others, with experience in inpatient or adolescent psychiatric

Job Duties

The Part Time RN works under supervision of the RN Manager I, upholding the professional image of the Nursing Department as a role model & mentor for other disciplines. Utilizing knowledge base and experience, the RN provides age-specific nursing care to children and adolescents psychiatric patients through the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy & procedures & standards of nursing practice. The nurse maintains a safe, therapeutic environment, using the least restrictive measures necessary & upholds the rights and dignity of the children & their families at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Effective communication both verbal & written.
• Ability to participate in an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to lead educational groups. Ability to assess, plan, implement, & evaluate patient care utilizing knowledge of
• pharmacology, psychiatric disorders, AND physical, psychological, & social needs of the psychiatric adolescent
• or child.
• Competent with TOVA, CPR and knowledge of lab values for children & adolescents. Basic computer
• skills.
• Ability to apply knowledge to meet child & adolescent needs in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Act as a
• resource person to communicate knowledge of the nursing process to other disciplines, community groups, &
• schools of nursing.
• Walking and/or standing for up to eight (8) hours or more. Bending & lifting. Ability to use
• TOVA techniques. May be exposed to aggressive patients. Ability to work scheduled shifts and overtime hours or shifts as required
