Job summary

McLaren Health is seeking a nurse leader for the Emergency Services department. The role collaborates with physicians to implement plans of care, provides bedside nursing care, and oversees multiple support roles. You will evaluate care effectiveness and ensure patient safety throughout shifts.

The position requires a Michigan RN license and completion of ACLS, Basic Neuroscience, TNCC, and ENPC within specified timeframes. A leadership role in a fast-paced environment is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in Michigan.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire/transfer; Basic Neuroscience within 6 months.
• TNCC within 1 year; ENPC within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to plan patient care and oversee nursing tasks.
• Delegate to Nurse Assistants and other support staff; monitor care plan effectiveness.
• Lead patient conferences and mentor new staff; ensure proper patient placement.

Position Summary

Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing:

• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.

Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Basic Neuroscience course; required within first 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course
• Must complete TNCC (Trauma Nurse Certification) within one (1) year of hire/transfer
• Must complete ENPC within two (2) years of hire/transfer

Preferred

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent preferred
• Critical Care Nurse preferred
