Job summary

McLaren Health Care's Emergency Services department is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse to collaborate with physicians, provide bedside care, and implement care plans. You will delegate tasks to nursing support and monitor patient progress.

The role requires Michigan RN licensure, ACLS and Basic Neuroscience within 6 months, TNCC within 1 year, and ENPC within 2 years. Prior acute care experience is preferred. Shifts are variable and weekends required.

Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.

Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Basic Neuroscience course; required within first 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course
• Must complete TNCC (Trauma Nurse Certification) within one (1) year of hire/transfer
• Must complete ENPC within two (2) years of hire/transfer

Preferred

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent preferred
• Critical Care Nurse preferred
