Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Med/PCU 7 EAST unit. The role involves patient assessment, planning and implementing care, and educating patients and families to achieve treatment goals.

The position requires MI RN licensure, BLS, ACLS for specified departments, and a BSN is preferred with a commitment to obtain it within five years. On-site duties cover cardiac and medical-surgical patients with rotating day/night shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nursing program with NCLEX eligibility to become an RN.
• MI RN license current; BLS certification; ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, and Emergency.
• BSN degree preferred; commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire/transfer.
• Experience alignment with age-specific and cardiac patient care; strong patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information to inform care plans.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises individualized care plans.
• Educates patient and family using teach-back methods; documents status and goals.

Description:

Registered Nurse

Department: Cardiac Med/PCU 7 EAST

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose:

7 East provides services to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic Heart Failure patients, as well as medical surgical patients who require cardiac monitoring. Patients on the unit require close and frequent assessment and skillful and timely clinical interventions in order to achieve their treatment goals. 7 East is a 32-bed unit and the average patient age is 64.

Shifts Available:

Rotating Schedule - Day/Night Rotating; Day/Eve Rotating (8 & 12 hour shifts); 12-Hour Nights

Status Available:

Full time, Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

Graduation from accredited nursing program.

Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.

Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs

Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
