Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking an experienced RN for the Cardiac Cath Lab. This Monday–Friday role involves circulating, scrubbing, and monitoring during procedures with no call requirements.

You will work with interventional cardiologists and a specialized team to support diagnostic catheterizations, PCI, and STEMI responses, providing patient education and safe, high‑quality care.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing is required.
  • NC nursing license or multi-state license required.
  • 1–3 years of recent Cath Lab experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of Cardiac Cath Lab patient care in a safety‑driven environment.
  • Completes initial and ongoing assessments, including hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Formulates individualized care plans and revises them based on patient response.
  • Assists with diagnostic cardiac catheterization, PCI, device support, vascular procedures and STEMI response.
  • Administers medications, monitors sedation levels, and manages patient response.
  • Documents nursing care accurately and timely.
  • Monitors and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family.
  • Collaborates across disciplines for transfer, discharge, referral and education needs.
  • Provides patient and family education related to procedures, recovery and follow-up.
  • Advocates for patient wellbeing and rights; supports staff orientation and competency development.

More about our team

As a Registered Nurse in our Cath Lab, you'll join a specialized cardiovascular team supporting diagnostic catheterizations and interventional PCI procedures, including coronary stent placement to open blocked arteries and help reduce heart attack risk for patients. This Monday-Friday position supports a limited STEMI program Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with no call requirements. The RN will circulate, scrub, and monitor during procedures and should be comfortable working in all areas of the Cath Lab alongside interventional cardiologists, registered nurses, and monitoring technicians.


How you'll contribute


  • Performs all aspects of Cardiac Cath Lab patient care in an environment that prioritizes safety and minimizes risk of medical/healthcare errors.

  • Completes initial and ongoing assessments, including hemodynamic monitoring and pre-/post-procedure evaluations.

  • Formulates individualized plans of care; revises plans based on patient response to treatment; evaluates effectiveness daily.

  • Assists with all Cath Lab procedures including diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, device implantation support, vascular procedures, and emergency STEMI response.

  • Administers medications, monitors sedation levels, and manages patient response during procedures.

  • Documents nursing care accurately and timely.

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family.

  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and education needs.

  • Provides patient and family education related to procedures, recovery, medications, and follow-up care.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient, ensuring protection of patient rights.

  • Assists in orientation, training, and competency development of staff as directed.


What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. 1-3 years recent Cath Lab experience required. Additional requirements includeAdditional requirements include:



  • Requires critical thinking skills.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to respond to and perform effectively in emergent situations.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
