Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Cath Lab to join a specialized cardiovascular team supporting diagnostic catheterizations and interventional PCI procedures. The role emphasizes patient safety, precise nursing care, and collaboration with interventional cardiologists and techs.

The position is Monday–Friday with no call requirements, requiring an RN license in NC and an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred). 1–3 years Cath Lab experience is needed.

• 1-3 years recent Cath Lab experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all Cath Lab patient care with safety and minimizes risk of errors.
• Assists with diagnostic catheterization and PCI procedures, including device implantation support.
• Administers medications, monitors sedation, and manages patient response during procedures.
• Documents nursing care accurately and timely.
• Collaborates across disciplines for transfer, discharge, referral, and education needs.
• Provides patient and family education related to procedures, recovery, medications, and follow-up care.

As a Registered Nurse in our Cath Lab, you'll join a specialized cardiovascular team supporting diagnostic catheterizations and interventional PCI procedures, including coronary stent placement to open blocked arteries and help reduce heart attack risk for patients. This Monday-Friday position supports a limited STEMI program Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with no call requirements. The RN will circulate, scrub, and monitor during procedures and should be comfortable working in all areas of the Cath Lab alongside interventional cardiologists, registered nurses, and monitoring technicians.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) - Cath Labwho excels in this role:

• Performs all aspects of Cardiac Cath Lab patient care in an environment that prioritizes safety and minimizes risk of medical/healthcare errors.
• Completes initial and ongoing assessments, including hemodynamic monitoring and pre-/post-procedure evaluations.
• Formulates individualized plans of care; revises plans based on patient response to treatment; evaluates effectiveness daily.
• Assists with all Cath Lab procedures including diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, device implantation support, vascular procedures, and emergency STEMI response.
• Administers medications, monitors sedation levels, and manages patient response during procedures.
• Documents nursing care accurately and timely.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and education needs.
• Provides patient and family education related to procedures, recovery, medications, and follow-up care.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient, ensuring protection of patient rights.
• Assists in orientation, training, and competency development of staff as directed.

What we're looking for

• Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1-3 years recent Cath Lab experience required.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
