Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Registered Nurse - Hospice After Hour On-Call RN to support patients during evenings and weekends. The role combines remote triage and field visits to ensure continuous, high-quality hospice care.

Responsibilities include on-call triage, coordinating with physicians and care teams, educating patients and caregivers, and documenting all interactions. On-call schedule: Friday 5pm - Monday 8am, with full-time compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in assigned state(s).
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
• Current CPR certification.
• 1+ years nursing experience, hospice/home health or acute care preferred.

Registered Nurse - Hospice After Hour On-Call RN

On-Call Schedule: Friday 5pm - Monday 8am

As the Hospice RN On-Call, you are responsible for providing after-hours clinical support, triaging patient needs, and coordinating care to ensure continuity and quality outcomes. This role delivers remote and field-based nursing support, assesses patient conditions, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address urgent and emergent patient needs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide on-call nursing support, triaging patient needs and determining appropriate interventions
• Assess patient conditions via phone and/or in-person visits and elevate care as needed
• Coordinate with physicians, care teams, and caregivers to ensure timely and effective care delivery
• Deliver patient and caregiver education related to symptom management and care plans
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions and clinical decisions

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license, specific to the state(s) you are assigned to work
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance
• Current CPR certification
• 1+ years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, home health, or acute care

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $83,580 to $125,370 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
