The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department team, working within a busy, multidisciplinary environment. The role supports care across ED and EMU with opportunities during the ED redevelopment.
You will be part of the Tasmanian Health Service expanding services, with a focus on patient safety, education, and professional development within a high-demand setting.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.
The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.
The RHH ED has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.
As a Registered Nurse (RN) within the RHH ED, you’ll work alongside more than 500 dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team members.
The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) is expanding to meet the needs of our community. The ED is undergoing a re-development to provide purpose-built facilities to meet our patient’s needs.
The ED is progressing toward the establishment of separate workforces for the ED and the Emergency Medical Unit (EMU/Short Stay). Recruitment through this process may allow for allocation to EMU only. Appointment to EMU requires a minimum of 12 months relevant experience. Applicants seeking to be considered exclusively for an EMU position should clearly indicate this preference in their 1–2 page statement.

Multiple Permanent, full time or part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
