Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services in Cottonport, LA seeks a Registered Nurse for night shift work in a corrections setting. Job Duties:

THIS POSITION WORKS THE NIGHT SHIFT

• Performs professional nurse duties that may include administration of blood and blood components, I.V. medications, parenteral nutrition, central line therapy, etc., under the close supervision of a registered nurse of a higher level
• Administers medications and treatments in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Assists in the development of nursing plans of care for patients in assigned units.

Required License:

• This position requires a Registered Nurse License, or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse

Work Environment:

• Will work regularly to provide health care services for Adult Male Inmates
• Candidate will perform duties along with other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Doctors, Dentists, and Mental Health professionals

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation:

Compensation: This position has aSpecial Entrance Rate (SER)at each level.However, the salary offered will be determinedbased on qualifications and experience.

‘Premium Pay’ is paid in addition to regular pay for qualifying conditions: Retention * Credentials * Experience * Shift Differential. There is Premium Pay at a rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.

Career Progression Group: REGISTERED NURSE 1, 2, or 3

• Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
• Salary depends on level of experience.
