Job summary

West Valley Family Health in Yakima, WA is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our caring team. You will conduct patient visits, collect histories, perform triage, and support physicians in procedures using the EPIC EMR system.

We value compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on community health. Candidates with WA RN licensure, BCLS, and 1 year outpatient RN experience are encouraged to apply; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • WA RN license active; NLC requirements and relocation guidelines apply.
  • BCLS within 90 days of hire; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred (ALTA score of 10).
  • 1 year outpatient or clinical RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care during patient visits, obtaining vital signs and health history.
  • Performs phone triage to assess next steps and follow-up needs.
  • Documents health history and actions in the EMR system.
  • Assists providers with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Performs IV starts and explains procedures and possible complications.
  • Communicates with patients about allergies, conditions and medications.
  • Collaborates with the care team to develop and implement the plan of care.
  • Ensures alignment with TJC, HRSA, and YVFWC requirements.

Position Highlights:
  • FTE (40 hours per week)
  • EMR system is EPIC
  • $39.69-$48.62/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked
  • $7,000.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:
    • At Hire: $2,100.00
    • At 180 days (6 months): $2,800.00
    • At 12 months: $2,100.00
    • Bonus will be pro-rated based on Full Time Equivalency (FTE)

What You'll Do:
  • Provides care during patient visits, discussing chief complaint and obtaining vital signs and complete health history for the patient. Develops a baseline physical assessment
  • Performs phone triage with patients to determine chief complaint and assessment of next steps and follow up care needed
  • Documents health history, assessments, actions and medications in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Assists providers in diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Performs IV Starts when ordered. Provides information to patient regarding the procedure, including site selection and possible complications
  • Communicates with patient to collect information on allergies and preexisting conditions
  • Provides information to patient regarding the procedure, including site selection and possible complications
  • Identifies the purpose, side effects, and onset of action for each class of drug being given to patient. Explains medication, usage and possible side effects to patient/guardian and obtains consent
  • Collaborates with other healthcare providers in developing patient plan of care. Coordinates and plans interagency referrals related to patient care as directed by the provider
  • Collaborates with provider in implementing the patient plan of care including providing education and identifying additional services needed for the patient. Initiates follow-up care plan as needed
  • Collaborates with ancillary staff to process patients based on providers' schedule, maintaining smooth patient flow
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
  • 1 year of outpatient or clinical RN experience is preferred
  • Active WA RN license
  • Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC): If the RN holds a license from a participating NLC state, they must provide proof of primary state of residence and proof of completed suicide‑prevention training during the first week of onboarding. If relocating to Washington, the RN must obtain a Washington RN license within 6 months of hire and update their primary state of residence within 60 days of relocation.
  • Military Nurses are not required to obtain Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • BCLS within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency is preferred at a level 10
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 10 is achieved
