Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse for Miramar Health Center in Kennewick, WA. You will provide patient care, perform triage, and document in EPIC EMR while supporting a holistic, community-focused healthcare mission.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing, WA RN license, and ideally BSN with outpatient experience. Bilingual Spanish proficiency is preferred and may qualify for differential compensation.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • 1 year of outpatient or clinical RN experience preferred.
  • Active WA RN license.
  • Dual Washington/Oregon licensure within 120 days.
  • NLC: provide proof of primary residence; relocation to WA requires WA license within 6 months and residency update within 60 days.
  • BCLS within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred at level 10.
  • Eligible for bilingual differential with ALTA score of 10.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care during visits, obtaining vital signs and complete health history.
  • Performs triage calls to determine next steps and follow-up care.
  • Documents health history, assessments, actions and medications in the EMR system.
  • Assists providers in diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Initiates IV starts and educates patient on procedure, site and risks.
  • Collects information on allergies and preexisting conditions from patients.
  • Explains medications, usage and side effects; obtains patient consent.
  • Collaborates with providers on the patient plan of care and coordinates referrals.
  • Implements the patient plan of care and initiates follow-up care as needed.
  • Works with ancillary staff to maintain smooth patient flow.

Position Highlights:
  • FTE (40 hours per week)
  • EMR system is EPIC
  • $41.68-$51.05/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked
  • $7,000.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:
    • At Hire: $2,100.00
    • At 180 days (6 months): $2,800.00
    • At 12 months: $2,100.00
    • Bonus will be pro-rated based on Full Time Equivalency (FTE)

What You’ll Do:
  • Provides care during patient visits, discussing chief complaint and obtaining vital signs and complete health history for the patient. Develops a baseline physical assessment
  • Performs phone triage with patients to determine chief complaint and assessment of next steps and follow up care needed
  • Documents health history, assessments, actions and medications in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Assists providers in diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Performs IV Starts when ordered. Provides information to patient regarding the procedure, including site selection and possible complications
  • Communicates with patient to collect information on allergies and preexisting conditions
  • Provides information to patient regarding the procedure, including site selection and possible complications
  • Identifies the purpose, side effects, and onset of action for each class of drug being given to patient. Explains medication, usage and possible side effects to patient/guardian and obtains consent
  • Collaborates with other healthcare providers in developing patient plan of care. Coordinates and plans interagency referrals related to patient care as directed by the provider
  • Collaborates with provider in implementing the patient plan of care including providing education and identifying additional services needed for the patient. Initiates follow-up care plan as needed
  • Collaborates with ancillary staff to process patients based on providers’ schedule, maintaining smooth patient flow
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
  • 1 year of outpatient or clinical RN experience is preferred
  • Active WA RN license
  • Dual Washington/Oregon licensure required within 120 days
  • Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC): If the RN holds a license from a participating NLC state, they must provide proof of primary state of residence and proof of completed suicide - prevention training during the first week of onboarding. If relocating to Washington, the RN must obtain a Washington RN license within 6 months of hire and update their primary state of residence within 60 days of relocation.
  • Military Nurses are not required to obtain Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • BCLS within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency is preferred at a level 10
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 10 is achieved
