Radiological Technologist - Urgent Care PRN (Radiology)

The Radiological Technologist – Urgent Care reports to department leadership and, under the direction of a provider/nurse/MLT, supports and assists with clinical and laboratory services to enhance patient flow and satisfaction. Responsibilities include accurately obtaining, documenting, and reporting variances for history, vital signs, EKGs, and growth parameters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs radiologic procedures and examinations under the supervision of radiologists or delegated practitioners to produce diagnostic radiographic studies.
  2. Receives and interprets requests for radiologic procedures; gains patient cooperation; operates radiographic equipment; records results.
  3. Takes appropriate actions to protect against secondary radiation for patients, self, and staff.
  4. Maintains knowledge of radiation protection standards, skeletal system functions, and physical principles of X-rays and electric circuits to perform diagnostic procedures.
  5. Provides imaging services including conventional x-ray (CR, DR).
  6. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
  7. Uses professional judgment during procedures.
  8. Provides patient care related to radiographic procedures.
  9. Recognizes urgent patient conditions and reports to the provider/radiologist.
  10. Supports clinical processes to ensure safe, accurate, and timely patient care.
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years pediatric or general x-ray experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles, procedures, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Analytical skills to determine the best method for radiographs, ensuring clarity and minimal radiation exposure.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team.
  • CPR training is required and must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

Must provide records of completed diploma or academic transcript if performing laboratory or point-of-care testing.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work environment involves radiology/imaging areas with occasional exposure to unpleasant odors, infectious agents, and radiation. Safety procedures, protective equipment, and exposure badges are used to minimize risks. Standing for long periods and lifting patients may be required.
