Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Nurse in Urology who is bilingual in English and Russian. The role offers 5/8.5 hour shifts Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5 pm, with opportunities to collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team.

You will provide patient-centered care, monitor vital signs, assist physicians, document in EMR, and support patients and families throughout treatment, discharge planning, and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN License.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized care plans for patients under your supervision and care.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
• Assist physician with exams and/or urologic procedures.
• Sterilize surgical instruments.
• Prepare and administer injections.
• Provide supportive resources to the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.
• Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.
• Watch and record the patient’s progress on a constant basis.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Complete MAR after treatment.
• Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.

We require:

• Valid New York State RN License
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
• Bilingual English/Russian
