Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is hiring a Registered Nurse for PACU on a Full Time Third Shift. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals. Responsibilities include direct patient care, PACU assessment, care planning, and leading a team to ensure safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care.

Requirements include KY RN licensure, BSN or ADN, BLS, and ACLS/PALS/NRP with dysrhythmia training as needed. On-call duties apply weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• If ADN with <10 years experience, enroll in BSN within 12 months and complete within 5 years.
• BLS certification required; obtain within 30 days if not certified.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia class as department requires.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ needs and develop care plans.
• Provide direct patient care in PACU.
• Manage patient care delivery and supervise support staff.
• Demonstrate leadership and support quality care.
• Maintain a healing environment and patient relations.
• On-call weekends/holidays by rotation.
• Nurses support care before, during and after surgery.

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a specialized hospital unit where patients are closely monitored and cared for immediately following surgical or procedural interventions requiring anesthesia. The PACU is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort during the initial recovery period, addressing potential complications, and transitioning patients to the next phase of care.

Description:

• Assessment of patients’ needs.
• Development of patient care plans
• Provision of direct care.
• Management of patient care delivery.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.
• Support for quality care.
• Customer relations and healing environment.
• On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
• Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery.
• Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
• Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.

Requirements:

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.

• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
