Job summary

Emerald Healthcare in Cozad, NE is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our nursing facility team. The RN will provide direct patient care, administer medications, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds an ADN or BSN, an active NE RN license, BLS, and preferably ACLS. You will participate in care planning, documentation, and weekend/night/holiday coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, treatment planning, and medication administration.

• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members about patient status and needs.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and records in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Mentor and supervise nursing staff (LPNs and CNAs) to ensure adherence to care protocols.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, infection control, and safety standards.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies with clinical judgment and stabilizing care.
• Participate in weekend, night, and holiday on-call rotations.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Care: Provide direct patient care including assessments, treatment planning, and administering medications. Monitor and document patient progress and respond to changes in condition.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with residents, families, and healthcare team members to address concerns and provide updates on patient status.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
• Training and Supervision: Mentor and guide nursing staff, including LPNs and CNAs, ensuring adherence to care protocols and facility procedures.
• Compliance: Ensure all nursing practices comply with state and federal regulations, including infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies, utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment to stabilize and manage acute situations.
• Participation: Works with other nurses in taking weekend, night, and holiday calls on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in NE
• Experience: Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred, but not required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
