Job summary

The College of Charleston is seeking a Campus Nurse to provide health care in an ambulatory setting to students under minimal supervision.

Requires graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current South Carolina RN license; minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, with preference for college health experience. Occasional after-hours work and travel may be required.

• Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience; college health experience preferred.
• Candidates with equivalent combination of experience and education are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for appointments and assist physicians/nurse practitioners/physician assistants.
• Perform laboratory procedures as needed and administer medications as ordered, start IVs.
• Assist with restocking and ordering medical supplies and medications; provide coverage during lunch breaks.

The Campus Nurse under minimal supervision is responsible for providing health care in an ambulatory setting to students at the College of Charleston.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina. Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience; Preference will be given to those with college health experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of principles, practice, and theories of nursing. Knowledge of teaching methods applicable to nursing. Knowledge of certification requirements and standards for healthcare facilities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully. Ability to follow detailed instructions of a technical and professional nature.

Occasional after hour work and travel may be required.
