Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute is seeking an EEG Technologist to support long-term monitoring for adult and pediatric patients. You will operate EEG and video equipment, present data during rounds, and contribute to comprehensive reports.

Shifts run 3:00pm–11:00pm with every third weekend. Requires R.EEG.T with BLS, plus two years of related experience. Manual electrode placement and data interpretation are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) with Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.
• Two years of recent technical experience in epilepsy long term monitoring and routine EEG lab exposure are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform long term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using EEG/Video equipment and related instruments.
• Present patient history, evolution, EEG/video data and radiologic studies in daily rounds for staff physicians.
• Describe seizures and frequency; list current medications and results of prior investigations.
• Describe examinations conducted during admissions to monitoring units.
• Map and classify ictal and interictal EEG/Video data; write final report and detailed descriptions.

A caregiver in this position works 3:00pm—11:00pm| every 3rd weekend|
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform long term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using closed circuit and digital audio/visual equipment and electrophysiological recording instruments.
• Present patient history and evolution, EEG and video data and radiologic studies in daily patient rounds for staff physicians.
• Describe current seizures and frequency.
• List current medications and results of previous investigations.
• Describe examination made during admission to the monitoring units.
• Map, classify an impression of ictal and interictal EEG/Video data.
• Write final report and detailed description of EEG patterns, seizure semiology, radiologic findings, mapping of ictal and interictal abnormalities and selection of representative EEG samples.
• Serve as an instructor for new personnel being trained to perform testing and care for long term monitoring patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School or GED
• Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) with Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Two years of recent technical experience in epilepsy long term monitoring, routine EEG lab with exposure to long term monitoring on Bedside Monitoring systems or any combination of such experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Tech/computer experience

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
• Ability to assist with positioning and transporting of patients, pushing beds, carts and wheelchairs.
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.

Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $25.13
Maximum hourly: $38.33
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
