Job summary

Jamestown Family Health Clinic seeks a compassionate Registered Medical Assistant to support providers and patients in a fast-paced clinic.

You will room patients, document vital signs, and maintain EMR accuracy while assisting with orders, refills, and pre-authorizations. This role requires strong communication and compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and billing procedures.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication.
  • Experience with Medicare/insurance processes is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm in a busy clinical setting.
  • Reliable team player with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients by obtaining vital signs and chief complaints per protocol.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and documentation.
  • Process orders, refills, and pre-authorizations for procedures.
  • Record patient charges for electronic billing systems.
  • Assist providers with follow-up and test results communication.
  • Prepare patients for labs and radiology procedures.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and referrals.
  • Perform waived laboratory tests and basic wound care.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and immunizations inventory.
  • Provide basic triage and urgent-care support when needed.

Jamestown Family Health Clinic is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Medical Assistant to join our collaborative healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care under the direction of a Physician, ARNP, PA-C, or other licensed healthcare provider. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment, we encourage you to apply!What You'll DoAs a Registered Medical Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting both patients and providers by:Providing services consistent with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Occupational Analysis and Skill Sets.Rooming patients by obtaining and documenting vital signs, patient history (when appropriate), and chief complaints according to clinic protocols.Maintaining accurate electronic medical records, including scanning, recording, and updating patient information.Processing provider orders, prescription refill requests, and medication or procedure pre-authorizations.Recording patient charges for electronic billing.Assisting providers with patient follow-up, including communicating laboratory and radiology results as directed.Preparing patients for laboratory and radiology procedures.Scheduling diagnostic testing and specialty referrals.Performing waived laboratory testing, wound care, and other delegated clinical procedures under the supervision of a licensed clinician.Recognizing and responding appropriately to urgent and emergent situations according to established protocols.Maintaining exam rooms, medical supplies, medications, and immunization inventories.Performing basic patient triage following clinic protocols.Maintaining professional conduct, appearance, and excellent patient service.Building positive working relationships with providers, staff, and leadership.Documenting work processes and participating in quality improvement and clinic meetings.Following all Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe policies and procedures, including HIPAA, safety standards, and the Occupational Exposure Control Plan.Performing other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsCurrent Basic CPR Certification through the American Heart Association.Knowledge of medical terminology.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy or high-stress environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures and billing processes.Knowledge of medication administration procedures and processes.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.Valid Washington State Driver's License.Ability to successfully pass a criminal background investigation.Preferred QualificationsTwo (2) years of healthcare experience, including experience as a CNA, Medic, or other related medical role.Knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare laws and regulations.Understanding of office administrative operations, personnel management, and regulatory compliance.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.Strong time management, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative.Physical & Working ConditionsThis position requires the ability to:Lift, push, and carry up to 30 pounds without assistance.Stand, sit, walk, bend, squat, twist, and climb for extended periods.Perform repetitive reaching above and below shoulder level.Maintain manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Use a stethoscope and telephone effectively.Work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining professionalism and excellent patient care.Be available to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as operational needs require.Why Join Jamestown?At Jamestown Family Health Clinic, you'll become part of an integrated healthcare team committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to our community.
