The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant II to join the team at the Jamestown Family Dental Clinic (JFDC)!The mission of the Dental Assistant II is to enhance the oral health status of JFDC patients by providing skilled dental assisting services to the dental team. This position plays an important role in supporting dental providers, maintaining accurate patient records, assisting with dental procedures, completing dental laboratory work, and performing digital intraoral and panoramic radiographic imaging.The Dental Assistant II works in a strong team environment and follows the health and safety standards of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. All duties and responsibilities are performed under the direction of the Clinic Operations Manager/Dental Assistant Supervisor.Employment Type: Per DiemEssential FunctionsAssist dental providers by setting up proper instruments prior to seating patients, greeting and seating patients and preparing patients for interaction with dental provider including assuring patient pertinent demographic information and medical history is accurate and up to dateProvide chairside assistance during examinations and other procedures including passing of instruments and materials, operating suction/retraction equipment in patients’ mouthsApply coronal polish; take study model impressions; fabricate and cement temporary crowns, place and remove rubber dams, as neededMaintain dental operatories including lab and sterilization areas in a clean, orderly and sterile condition, doing deep cleaning once weekly and observing infection control practices at all timesMaintain, clean, package, sterilize and store all dental equipment and instruments according to current infection control guidelinesTriage emergency patients: report findings to the dentist and schedule as necessaryProvide oral hygiene instructions; routine prophylaxis and topical fluoride treatments on adults and children as assigned by dentistAssist with tracking inventory, purchase of supplies and equipmentAssist reception staff to greet and take care of patient needs as neededParticipate in dental staff meetingsProperly record and scan all treatment rendered, planned findings in patient’s current electronic dental records in EaglesoftComplete dental laboratory work orders in compliance with Dentist and outside laboratories instructions; prepare case to be sent out; check cases in; schedule appointment with patient for deliveryExpose and manipulate digital intraoral and panoramic radiographs utilizing the software and equipment accuratelyLab work may include pouring and trimming of modelsMaintain and ensure patient confidentialityAdhere to all JST and JFDC policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, PPE and work practices as described in the JFHC Occupational Exposure Control Plan and HIPAAPerform additional duties when and as assignedRequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentWashington State Registered Dental Assistant accreditationOne (1) year experience as a Registered Dental AssistantWillingness to receive ongoing continuing education requiredBLS CertificationBasic personal computer skills required as well as the ability to learn dental office scheduling, electronic tooth and periodontal charting software (Eaglesoft), word processing and other software programsExceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communicationAbility to travel locally and regionally as assignedMust be able to successfully pass criminal background investigationPreferred QualificationsDental assistant certificationPrevious dental experience with thorough understanding of the operations of a professional dental clinicAmerican Indian/Alaska Native preferences applyPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsMust be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require)Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 25 lbs. unassistedPhysical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your positionMust be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and twisting without restrictionRequires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbolsMust have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basisMust be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlinesJoin the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and help us provide exceptional dental care to our community.
