Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Nutritionist in Tampa, FL to perform nutrition-focused assessments, review medical records, and provide evidence-based counseling to diverse patients. This PRN role supports the hospital's mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ and improve health outcomes across the community.

You will evaluate data for nutrition risks, tailor education to individual backgrounds, and collaborate with care teams to coordinate referrals and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field.
• Graduate degree in nutrition or related field with clinical experience.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments and evaluates anthropometric status.
• Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks and high‑risk health behaviors.
• Offers nutrition recommendations, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
• Provides counseling and education reflecting health literacy and cultural sensitivity.
• Uses evidence-based theories (e.g., transtheoretical model, motivational interviewing) in patient education.

Job Description:

• Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.
• Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, problems, malnutrition criteria, knowledge deficits, and high‑risk health behaviors.
• Offers nutrition recommendations, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
• Provides counseling and education that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management.
• Uses evidence-based theories and concepts, including the transtheoretical model and motivational interviewing, in patient education and counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

Education:

Bachelor's [Required]

Field of Study:

• In nutrition or nutrition related field
• Graduate degree in nutrition or nutrition related field AND One-year clinical experience

Work Experience:

• 3+ years clinical experience [Required]
