Job summary

Inova Health System is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join pediatric subspecialties in Fairfax, VA. The role supports nutrition care across Hematology/Oncology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, and Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Position can be full-time or part-time with day shifts (7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.). The Dietitian delivers safe, therapeutic nutrition care, collaborates with physicians and nurses, and contributes to education for staff and families.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree.
• Certification: Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive nutrition assessments and analyzes data to inform care.
• Develops individualized nutrition plans based on assessments and patient needs.
• Monitors response to nutrition therapy and adjusts plans as needed.
• Collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to integrate nutrition into the care plan.
• Educates patients, families, and staff on nutrition therapy and disease management.

We are looking for dedicated Registered Dietitian in the Fairfax area to work in children's specialties including Inova Children's Hematology/Oncology, Inova Children's Pulmonology, Inova Children's Gastroenterology, Inova Children's Neurology and Inova Children's Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. These roles will be full-time or part-time, day shift with varying hours from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Registered Dietitian

The Registered Dietitian provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. Provides clinical services and act as a resource to physicians, nurses and other professional healthcare team members, to provide patients with optimum nutritional care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs a comprehensive assessment by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Anticipates nutritional intervention issues, monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy and responds when standards of nutrition care recommend changes.
• Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and other healthcare providers while serving as a resource in the integration of the nutrition care plan into the comprehensive plan of care for the patient.
• Communicates with the healthcare team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to increase practice knowledge and incorporate that knowledge into the nutrition plan of care.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy outcomes.
• Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• Assesses the educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy interventions and outcomes. Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree
• Certification: Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) work experience
