Inova Health is seeking a Pediatric Ambulatory Dietitian Clinical Specialist 1 for a full-time, day-shift role in Fairfax, VA. You will provide safe, evidence-based nutrition care to pediatric patients and education to families, coordinating with physicians and the healthcare team.

The role emphasizes developing patient education materials, tracking outcomes, and staying current with pediatric nutrition best practices within a leading health system.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree may be required for newer licensed dietitians.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) licensing to start; BLS within 3 months.

Inova Ambulatory Clinical Nutrition is looking for a dedicated Pediatric Ambulatory Dietitian Clinical Specialist 1 to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday - Friday located in Fairfax, VA.

The Pediatric Ambulatory Dietitian Clinical Specialist 1 provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. Incorporates differences into the provision of care by integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Acts as a resource to physicians, nurses and other allied professional healthcare team members to provide patients with optimum nutritional care.

Pediatric Ambulatory Dietitian Clinical Specialist 1 Responsibilities:

• Develops and revises patient education materials and evaluates effectiveness.
• Assesses the educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
• Documents education according to standards in the medical record.
• May participate as a guest speaker at community events, seminars, workshops, or professional events and conduct in-services.
• Develops and implements an individualized plan for professional growth and development.
• Recognizes trends in patient populations, explores alternatives to care and makes revisions to standards.
• Collects performance improvement data, monitors outcomes and implements corrective actions.
• Formulates an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings and interprets trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Anticipates nutritional intervention issues, monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy, and responds when standards of nutrition care recommend changes.
• Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and other healthcare providers while serving as a resource in the integration of the nutrition care plan into the comprehensive plan of care for the patient.
• Communicates with the healthcare team members, patients, and families to maximize patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to increase practice knowledge and incorporate that knowledge into the nutrition plan of care.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy interventions and outcomes. Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree
• Certification: Registered Dietitian (RD) upon start; Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 3 months
• Experience: 2 years as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous pediatric experience preferred.
