Inova Schar Cancer & Peterson Life with Cancer is seeking an Oncology Registered Dietitian for a full-time, day-shift role in Woodbridge, VA. You will deliver medical nutrition therapy to cancer patients during active treatment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary cancer care team.

You will join a growing team of Oncology Dietitians and have opportunities to develop specialized oncology nutrition expertise while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.

Formación

• Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum; Master’s degree required for RD after 1/1/2024.
• Experience: RD within 3 months; BLS from American Heart Association within 3 months.
• Credentials: Registered Dietitian (RD) required.

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and formulate individualized nutrition plans.
• Coordinate nutrition care with physicians and other providers within the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide education to patients, residents, nurses and other healthcare staff to optimize oncology nutrition outcomes.
• Incorporate research findings into nutrition practice and update patient education materials.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Inova Schar Cancer & Peterson Life with Cancer is looking for a dedicated Oncology Registered Dietitian to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday – Friday and is located in Woodbridge, VA.

The Oncology Registered Dietitian will be primarily responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to support the nutrition needs of cancer patients during active treatment. You will join a growing team of experienced Oncology Dietitians who are closely integrated with multidisciplinary cancer care teams. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in oncology nutrition while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.

Oncology Registered Dietitian Responsibilities:

• Performs a comprehensive assessment by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Anticipates nutritional intervention issues, monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy and responds when standards of nutrition care recommend changes.
• Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and other healthcare providers while serving as a resource in the integration of the nutrition care plan into the comprehensive plan of care for the patient.
• Communicates with the healthcare team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to increase practice knowledge and incorporate that knowledge into the nutrition plan of care.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy outcomes.
• Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• Assesses the educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy interventions and outcomes. Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor’s degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree

Experience:Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 3 months

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous clinical nutrition experience preferred.

Previous oncology experience preferred.
