Job Description

Dental hygienists are professionals who work under the supervision of a dentist to provide preventive and therapeutic oral health care services to patients. They help promote good oral health and treat patients. The ability to build trust with patients of all ages is essential. You should have a deep understanding of health and safety rules, as well as a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies.

Tasks And Responsibilities

• Cleaning teeth: Use tools such as scalers, toothbrushes, and water/air syringes to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
• Preparation and maintenance of dental equipment.
• Apply fluoride or other agents to strengthen teeth and prevent decay.
• Examine the oral cavity for lesions, sores, recessed gums, bleeding gums, and evaluate overall oral health.
• Maintain records of patients' dental histories, treatments, and medical histories.
• Maintain oral hygiene according to the dentist's treatment plan, including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, x-rays, fluoride treatments, and debridement.
• Disinfect and sterilize equipment and instruments.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, diet, and fluoride use.
• Build strong working relationships with the dental team through mentoring and training.
