Big Smiles Kentucky , a school-based mobile dental practice, is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist in Frankfort, KY and surrounding areas to help provide dental care to underserved children at their school.

Our innovative in-school dental program offers a different experience than traditional practices. With a workday ending with the school day and no nights or weekends, our program is ideal for those seeking a diverse and meaningful work environment, working parents, or anyone wanting to make a difference in the dental field.

Qualifications for Registered Dental Hygienist

• Must hold an active RDH license
• At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist
• Valid State ID, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel locally
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; organized and detail-oriented; capable of multi-tasking
• Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
• Current CPR (BLS) certification with hands-on skills assessment
• Ability to walk several flights of stairs as many schools lack elevators

Responsibilities of the Registered Dental Hygienist

• Assist with oral health management of patients, demonstrating teamwork
• Verify patient identity before treatment and document on medical charts
• Obtain oral health assessments for new and returning patients
• Review medical history and relevant oral health information
• Provide oral hygiene services such as prophylaxis, sealants, and fluoride applications following best practices
• Assist the dentist as directed
• Provide oral health education and counseling, including brushing and flossing techniques
• Document services provided on patient charts
• Travel daily to school sites
