Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties include:

• Assisting the dentist in starting treatment by utilizing x-ray time to promote the dentist’s qualities, educating patients with intra-oral pictures, and supporting diagnosis after examinations.
• Abiding by procedures for compliance with safety regulations, infection control, and permitted duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment with urgency.
• Participate in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ by focusing on optimal treatment and addressing patient needs.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, environment; prepare patients for treatment; assist doctors to ensure efficient, quality care.
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed by the dentist.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care as directed.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories per ADA guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, Dental Board, etc.).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification, licensure, or registration as mandated by state.
• Certifications/licenses as required by state (e.g., radiograph, ultrasonic scaling, sealant application).
• Associate degree or certificate from an accredited institution preferred.

Compensation: $19.25-$27.00/hourly.
