Reports To: Dentist/Dental Hygienist/RDHAP (Clinical Supervisor)

Location: Richmond, CA and Antioch, CA

Status: Non-exempt/Hourly

Brighter Beginnings is a 501c3 nonprofit organization responding to the needs of families in resource-poor neighborhoods since 1984, focusing on disparities in mortality and illness among African American babies. We have locations in Oakland, Richmond, Bay Point, and Antioch, with a multicultural, bilingual staff passionate about family services.

Position Summary

The Registered Dental Assistant assists the Dentist, Dental Hygienist, or RDHAP in clinical patient treatment.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program or relevant experience
  • Current California Registered Dental Assistant License
  • Valid BLS and CPR certifications
  • Training in dental instruments and procedures for all ages
  • Compliance with California dental practice requirements
  • Commitment to continuing education
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
  • 1-3 years experience in a dental office
  • Proficient in digital X-rays, Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with billing for private and public insurance programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Occasional evenings and weekends; possible work at alternative sites
Responsibilities
Patient Management
  • Greet and monitor patients, prepare treatment rooms, assist during procedures
  • Review health histories, educate patients on oral health, apply fluoride, and record treatment data
Treatment Room Management & Sterilization
  • Maintain sterilization standards, organize supplies, oversee equipment maintenance
Records & Inventory Management
  • Handle patient records per HIPAA, manage inventory, prepare for next day
Office Participation
  • Support other office tasks, participate in team meetings, promote teamwork

Other duties as assigned. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Requirements

Background check, TB test, physical exam, vaccination records, and current BLS required. Must meet physical demands of the job, including lifting, walking, and bending.
