Job summary

Covelo Group is seeking a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for a school-based role in Tacoma, WA. The position offers a consistent school-day schedule with pay up to $30/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.

You may work one-on-one with a student or support multiple students in a classroom setting, assisting with ABA goals and data collection in collaboration with teachers and BCBAs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active RBT certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Current RBT certification on voluntary inactive status may be considered.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ABA experience with children in home, school, or clinical settings preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures during challenging behaviors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to work at different school sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group behavioral and academic support.
  • Reinforce positive behaviors and help students develop appropriate replacement behaviors.
  • Follow IEPs, 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Collect and document behavioral data accurately.
  • Maintain current service logs for assigned students.
  • Assist BCBAs with observations, data collection, and student assessments.
  • Use prompting, redirection, and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Support students as they transition between special education and general education settings.
  • Supervise students in the classroom and during breaks, meals, transitions, and other school activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, BCBAs, and district staff.
  • Assist with toileting, diapering, or other personal care when required by the assignment.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, privacy, safety, and dignity.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) – School-Based | Up to $30/hr | Tacoma, WA

Looking for an RBT job in Tacoma, WA with a consistent school-day schedule? Join a local school program where you’ll help students manage behavioral challenges, participate in classroom activities, and work toward goals established in their individualized support plans.

You may work one-on-one with a student or support multiple students in a general or special education classroom. Assignments may include students from prekindergarten through adult-transition programs with behavioral needs ranging from mild to severe.

What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Current RBT certification on voluntary inactive status may also be considered
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Previous ABA experience with children in a home, school, or clinical setting is preferred
  • Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures during challenging behaviors
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback from supervisors
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to work at different school sites based on assignment needs
