Job summary

Maxim Healthcare in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Behavior Technician to provide one-on-one support in home or community settings, helping clients build social and communication skills under BCBA supervision.

You will document progress, follow behavior plans, and create encouraging interactions across sessions. A high school diploma and 18+ age are required; college psychology coursework or related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completed college coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, or human development; or at least one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with children and/or adults with autism and similar challenges.
• Help individuals build social and communication skills.
• Support families by addressing repetitive or restrictive behaviors.
• Follow behavior-change plans created by board-certified analysts.
• Collect and document progress, milestones, and session information accurately.
• Create encouraging, structured interactions during every session.

Hourly Pay: $24/Hr. - $27/Hr. Full-Time, Part-Time, PRN, Float

What You’ll Do

• Work one‑on‑one with children and/or adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and similar developmental delays and behavioral health challenges
• Help individuals build social and communication skills
• Support families by addressing repetitive or restrictive behaviors
• Follow behavior‑change plans created by Board Certified Behavior Analysts
• Collect and document progress, milestones, and session information accurately
• Create encouraging, structured interactions during every session

What You Bring

• Passion for working with individuals with special needs
• Strong communication skillsli>
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Either:
  • Completed college coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, or human development; or
  • At least one year of experience working with children as a Child Development professional, Camp Counselor, Paraprofessional, Behavioral Interventionist, ABA Therapist, or Behavior Technician
