Job summary

GACS seeks a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to work at Gilbert Elementary School. The RBT will provide ABA services to students with developmental disabilities under supervision, collect data, and support behavior plans within the classroom.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and the BCBA, maintaining documentation and consistent attendance to ensure progress and compliance in a school setting.

Job description

GACS has an opening for a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) at Gilbert Elementary School.

The RBT will work with individuals with developmental disabilities, such as autism, and provide therapeutic intervention in the educational setting. The RBT will also assess individual needs, document progress via data collection, implement behavior plans, and provide ongoing support and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work 1:1 with a student or a floating position to support numerous students
  • Assist with classroom management and respond to undesirable behaviors by replacing them with desired behaviors
  • Calmly responds to unexpected behaviors independently and appropriately
  • Provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services as recommended by the supervising BCBA.
  • Implement behavior plans designed to teach new skills or reduce challenging behaviors
  • Ability to work with severely disabled children
  • Maximize student access to the curriculum and create student independence.
  • Implement academic programming as instructed by the BCBA and Special Education Teacher
  • Collect data and maintain accurate records to document progress
  • Build and maintain the positive school and classroom culture held within this school district
  • Mentor and model the use of ABA techniques for individuals
  • Communicate with teachers and other team members
  • Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and communicate this to the supervising BCBA for direction in adjusting programming
  • Manage personal RBT documentation to maintain certification
  • Carry out all other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Hold a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification
  • Able to work effectively with individuals with severe disabilities and behaviors
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of behavior assessment and intervention, or willingness to be trained on such methodologies
  • Able to manage confidential information
  • Successfully complete a background check per MDE requirements
  • The ability to maintain certification, be at least 18 years old, and possess a HS diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to be trained in and utilize Handle with Care techniques
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position such as walking, sitting, standing, lifting, and paying attention
Wage/Benefits
  • Wage range of $19-$24 commensuratewith experience and skills
  • 7.5 hours/day with 30-minute duty free lunch; start and end times dependent on daily assignment
  • Work schedule based on district calendar (180 student days plus any required professional development)
  • Paid medical, dental and vision insurance up to the state of Michigan cap (or cash in lieuof $4,200 if not taking medical)
  • 8 paid holidays during the school year
  • 2 personal & 11 sick days per school year
  • FLSA status: non-exempt
