Job summary

Scoot Education is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional with RBT certification to support students with developmental disabilities. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, assist lead educators, implement IEP goals, and help create safe, inclusive classrooms in California.

This non-exempt, hourly role offers paid training, weekly direct deposit pay, background-check reimbursement, and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• RBT certification is required and state-specific requirements may apply.
• Experience working with students with developmental disabilities.
• At least 1 year in a classroom or education setting or with children/adults with special needs.
• Three references, including one from a direct supervisor.
• State and federal background checks and a TB risk assessment as required.

Responsibilities

• Support students 1:1 or in small groups under supervision.
• Assist lead educators and follow IEP plans.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
• Observe and communicate student progress to teachers.
• Lift up to 30 lbs and assist with challenging behaviors as needed.
• Attend to medical or behavior-related needs during instruction.

Perks & Compensation:

• Earn up to $25 – $38/hr. Pay will vary for day-to-day assignments and is typically more for long-term placements. Pay varies by location/state, role, certification, school, and assignment.

Role Requirements:

• Valid RBT Certification
• Experience in behavioral therapy and working with students with developmental disabilities
• At least 1 year experience working with children/adults with special needs; OR
• At least 1 year year in a classroom /education setting
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or 48 college credits
• Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
• State & federal background checks
• A TB risk assessment or test (Depends on State)

What You’ll Do:

• Work closely with students, either 1:1 or across entire classrooms
• Assist various moderate to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
• Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
• Support resource teacher(s) in delivering IEP’s (individual education plans)
• Follow direction from, and assist lead educators
• Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations
• Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
• Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings
• Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process
