Job Description

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

• **Patient Recruitment & Eligibility Assessment:** Identify and recruit eligible patients for oncology clinical trials. Facilitate clinical testing and conduct comprehensive eligibility verification to ensure protocol compliance.
• **Protocol Implementation:** Execute oncology research protocol objectives with precision. Coordinate patient care across multiple departments and disciplines while maintaining adherence to protocol timelines and managing critical clinical scenarios.
• **Patient and Family Education:** Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, clinical trial participation, and investigational chemotherapy treatments to ensure informed decision-making.
• **Investigational Chemotherapy Oversight:** Supervise investigational chemotherapy administration by verifying that chemotherapy orders comply with trial-specified dosing guidelines, confirming all safety parameters are met, and authorizing treatment initiation when patients meet all clinical requirements.
• **Clinical Triage and Adverse Event Management:** Assess and prioritize patient clinical needs. Monitor for and document immediate and delayed reactions to investigational agents, coordinating clinical responses with primary care physicians and external healthcare institutions.
• **Care Coordination and Referrals:** Facilitate direct hospital admissions and coordinate referrals to Behavioral Health, Homecare, and Hospice services as clinically indicated to ensure continuity of care.
• **Clinical Team Support and Staff Education:** Provide ongoing support to physician investigators and clinical staff to maintain patient participation and protocol compliance. Deliver educational sessions to infusion nurses, inpatient staff, and other departments on investigational chemotherapy protocols and trial compliance requirements.

Qualifications

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

**Required Qualifications:**

• Current valid Michigan RN license
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR) and clinical data management software systems
• Demonstrated ability to assess and triage patient clinical needs accurately
• Strong knowledge of oncology treatment protocols and investigational chemotherapy safety parameters
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for patient and family education

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification, or commitment to obtain within three (3) years of hire into the position
• Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) certification
• Two (2) years of progressive oncology research experience or clinical trial coordination experience
• Experience with adverse event monitoring, documentation, and reporting in a clinical research setting
• Demonstrated experience in care coordination and interdepartmental collaboration across multiple healthcare disciplines
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements for clinical research
• Experience providing patient education and informed consent support in oncology or clinical research settings
