Schedule

36 hours/week; Start/end times vary. Rotating Saturday Coverage.

The office is open Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 7:30 am – 10:00 am.

Provides clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care in the ambulatory hematology oncology setting. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education. Communicates pertinent clinical information to the interdisciplinary healthcare team and actively participates in identifying and implementing solutions to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, symptom management, and treatment tolerance in hematology oncology patients
  • Administer chemotherapy and supportive infusion therapies according to established oncology nursing protocols and institutional standards
  • Manage vascular access devices, including central lines and peripheral IV lines, ensuring proper maintenance and infection prevention
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans that address patient-specific oncology and hematology treatment needs
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, side effect management, and self-care strategies
  • Document clinical assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Collaborate with oncologists, hematologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care delivery
  • Monitor and report adverse reactions or treatment complications to the clinical team
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered ambulatory care environment
Qualifications
Education Required:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program. If holding an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), candidate must be willing to enroll in an accredited BSN program within 3 years of the start date and complete the degree within 5 years of the start date.

Licensure & Certifications Required
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure from the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Experience Required:

Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or ambulatory care setting, with demonstrated competency in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation.

Experience Preferred:
  • Infusion therapy administration and vascular access management
  • Intravenous (IV) insertion and line maintenance
  • Chemotherapy administration and oncology nursing protocols
  • Hematology oncology specialty care
