Job summary

Veolia seeks a Wastewater Operator to cover vacations and absences at multiple facilities, assist in training local teams, and support start-up projects. The role requires significant travel, with 1–2 weeks away from home at a time up to a month during extenuating circumstances.

You will operate pumps and valves, collect samples, maintain records, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. The position demands strong mechanical skills and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google equivalents.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Willingness to learn and take instructions on wastewater treatment processes.
• Operational experience with site-specific equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete operational coverage of Veolia operated facilities in the designated region, covering vacations and unplanned absences on both day and night shifts.
• Assist in the operational development of local technicians, providing in-person hands-on training and developing electronic training materials.
• Ensure industry standards and best practices are used at all Veolia operated facilities, including recordkeeping and preventive maintenance.
• Support new account start-up projects by developing operational tasks, procedures, and goals.
• Provide knowledgeable support to local technicians for troubleshooting process issues; make proactive decisions.
• Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow into the wastewater treatment plant.
• Collect and test wastewater samples to determine concentration levels and impurities.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping of client data such as residual chemical content and water parameters.
• Comply with Veolia safety parameters/programs.
• Analyze lab data to identify potential treatment issues and implement process changes to prevent non-compliance.
• Coordinate with other operators and management to maintain plant equipment.
