Job summary

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) is seeking an Associate Transportation Planner to support the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) in plan development and coordination.

The TPB is the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization and prepares plans and programs to enable federal transportation funding to flow into the region, provides data to decisionmakers, and serves as a forum for coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, public administration or closely related field.
• Strong writing and spreadsheet skills; excellent communication.
• Attention to detail and eagerness to learn and contribute to regional transportation products.

Responsibilities

• Supports the development, analysis, and implementation of transportation plans and projects.
• Compiles and interprets data related to travel patterns and infrastructure needs for efficient, safe transportation solutions.
• Prepares reports, maps, and presentations with senior staff.
• Assists in organizing monthly meetings and developing meeting materials; writes minutes and documentation of actions.
• Supports UPWP Task 1 and Task 2 activities and other duties as assigned.
