Job summary

Messer is seeking an Area Transport Manager to lead safety and operational excellence across the West Coast region. You will guide drivers and mechanics, implement HSEQ programs, and drive continuous improvement in a lean environment.

We value strategic hiring, labor relations, data-driven decisions, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. Up to 50% travel is required; bachelor's degree and 7+ years supervisory experience in transportation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years of supervisory experience in transportation processes.
• Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA and Hazmat regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety activities for drivers and mechanics within the region.
• Champion regional HSEQ programs and initiatives (Safety Meetings, Safety Talks, Intelex, IMS, IMSS).
• Maintain staffing plans to support regional supply and transport operations.
• Establish driver hiring and retention programs for the region.
• Provide labor relations and union bargaining support for the region.
• Achieve continuous customer supply and operational efficiency metrics with scheduling and transport teams.
• Travel up to 50% of the time on the West Coast.
