Job summary

OPB seeks an experienced Regional Team Lead to manage and edit multimedia journalism across Oregon and Southwest Washington, outside the Portland area. You will guide reporters, plan enterprise coverage, and collaborate with bureaus for digital, audio, and video storytelling.

You will write and edit stories for multiple platforms, supervise a team, and participate in on-air programming and public events. Remote-friendly with occasional field work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • 3 years of professional journalism experience.
  • 1 year supervisory experience leading and fostering belonging.
  • Experience editing and covering hard news topics (government, politics, climate, wildfire, outages, earthquakes).
  • Ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations and with editors across the state.
  • Ability to represent OPB at community events.
  • Bilingual in English and another language preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Edit a regional team and plan coverage with the Regional Managing Editor.
  • Lead reporters and guide storytelling from idea to publication.
  • Edit stories for radio and digital platforms and monitor editorial standards.
  • Produce breaking and enterprise stories for multiple platforms outside the Willamette Valley.
  • Represent OPB at events and on air when needed.
