Job summary

OPB is seeking an experienced Regional Team Lead Editor to guide a regional bureau of reporters across Oregon and Southwest Washington. The role combines hands-on reporting with coaching and editing, shaping enterprise and breaking news for digital, audio, and video audiences.

The editor will work with the Regional Managing Editor, plan coverage, and oversee freelancers in Bend, La Grande, Pendleton, and the Oregon Coast while maintaining high journalistic standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional journalism experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Experience editing and covering hard news topics.
• Ability to work independently in remote locations and with editors/reporters statewide.

Responsibilities

• Edit a team of reporters covering Oregon outside the Willamette Valley.
• Report, write and produce breaking and enterprise news across platforms.
• Represent OPB on and off air and participate in public events.
• Coordinate coverage with regional bureaus and freelancers.
• Meet daily deadlines with strong time management.
