Job summary

Oregon Public Broadcasting is seeking a NW Region Chief Engineer to lead the team supporting our Portland network center and 17 remote sites. The role blends IT and traditional broadcast tasks, requiring an agile mind and ongoing modernization to ensure resilient operations.

The position reports to the Director of Engineering and oversees 5 maintenance engineers, with a focus on mentoring staff and aligning infrastructure with OPS’s strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in broadcast/IT environments.
• Minimum of one (1) year strong supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair of Network Center and NW Region equipment to improve resilience.
• Research, design and implement technical changes to support content creation and distribution.
• Develop routine maintenance programs and emergency response plans; perform service as needed.
• Manage budgets, procure equipment, and supervise 5 staff; set goals and track progress.
• Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and maintain knowledge of RF and distribution networks.
