Job summary

OPB is seeking a Regional Team Lead to edit and guide a team of reporters covering Oregon outside the Willamette Valley. The role combines editing, reporting, and leadership to shape enterprise stories for radio and digital platforms.

Based in Oregon or Southwest Washington, you’ll work with bureaus and Portland colleagues, supervising, coaching, and delivering compelling multimedia journalism while maintaining OPB’s editorial standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience.
• 3 years of professional journalism experience.
• 1 year supervisory experience including guiding team and belonging.
• Experience editing and covering hard news topics (government, politics, climate change, wildfire response, outages).

Responsibilities

• Edit a team of reporters covering Oregon outside the Willamette Valley.
• Help reporters build beats and sources and guide stories from idea to final product.
• Edit stories for radio and digital platforms including web and newscast items.
• Monitor sources and lead iterative reporting when news breaks to keep region ahead.
• Ensure reporters follow editorial and ethics policies with high standards.
