Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within the Power and Energy practice. You will lead high‑voltage substation projects, mentor engineers, and drive team performance and client service across multiple offices.

The role emphasizes protection and control expertise, relaying, SCADA integration, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable power infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field.
• PE license or ability to obtain licensure.
• 15+ years of related experience in electrical power/substation projects.
• Willingness to travel as required (domestic/international).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables, including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and panel layouts.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith quality procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
• Drive technical excellence through reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement.
