Regional Sales Representative – Life Sciences |South or Southeast U.S.
The Opportunity
This opportunity is ideal for a true sales hunter who thrives on developing new business while building strong, long-term relationships with existing customers. The ideal candidate brings a consultative, technically driven sales approach and knows how to navigate complex sales cycles within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, and cleanroom manufacturing environments.
You'll inherit an established customer base with significant opportunities for expansion, while proactively identifying and pursuing new accounts throughout the region.
This is a remote, home-office-based position requiring 50–80% travel.
Candidates residing in NORTH CAROLINA, FLORIDA or TEXAS are strongly preferred, although qualified candidates throughout the territory will be considered.
What You'll Do
- Drive New Business: Aggressively identify, prospect, and develop new opportunities within pharmaceutical, biotech, and controlled manufacturing environments.
- Grow Established Accounts: Manage and expand an existing customer portfolio through relationship development, strategic account planning, and identifying additional revenue opportunities.
- Sell Technical Solutions: Represent sophisticated capital equipment, instrumentation, environmental monitoring technologies, consumables, and related services.
- Own the Sales Cycle: Lead the entire sales process, from prospecting and technical discovery through solution development, proposals, negotiations, closing, and post-sale follow-up.
- Develop Territory Strategy: Create and execute business plans to consistently achieve or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
- Build Strategic Relationships: Engage engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, validation, and technical decision-makers across complex customer organizations.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with technical, service, project, and marketing teams to develop customized solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage Sales Performance: Leverage Salesforce, Power BI, and sales analytics to maintain pipeline visibility, forecast accurately, and prioritize opportunities.
- Represent the Organization: Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events to expand market presence and develop new relationships.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Life Sciences, or another technical discipline.
- 3–5+ years of successful B2B sales experience involving technical capital equipment, scientific instrumentation, or related solutions.
- Demonstrated success generating new business, including prospecting, opening new accounts, and closing complex sales opportunities.
- Proven ability to manage and grow established customer relationships while consistently developing new revenue streams.
- Experience selling equipment or technical solutions into pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cleanroom manufacturing, or other highly regulated production environments.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex applications and communicate value to technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder, consultative sales cycles.
- Familiarity with structured sales methodologies such as Miller Heiman or Korn Ferry.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, ideally Salesforce, and Microsoft Office.
- Highly self-motivated, resourceful, persistent, and comfortable operating independently in a remote territory.
- Willingness to travel 50–80%, including overnight travel.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Direct experience selling equipment or instrumentation used within cleanroom manufacturing environments, rather than solely selling finished medical devices.
- Knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations, USP standards, ISO cleanroom classifications, or sterile manufacturing requirements.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, contamination control, particle counting, microbial monitoring, or related technologies.
- Familiarity with industry organizations including PDA, ISPE, IEST, or ASTM.
- Demonstrated success bringing complex technical solutions to market and navigating lengthy capital equipment sales cycles.
Travel:
Approximately 50–80%, including overnight travel.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
We're looking for someone who is energized by the pursuit of new business, not someone who prefers simply maintaining an existing book of accounts. You'll be equally comfortable opening doors with new prospects, building credibility with technical stakeholders, and strengthening relationships with established customers.
