Position:Regional Safety Manager

Direct Reports:Individual Contributor

Reports To:Director of Safety

Salary Range:$75k to $90k

Job Responsibilities:The Regional Safety Manager will be accountable and responsible for providing leadership, coaching and support to evaluate, identify, and reduce uncontrolled risk. This role will manage the deployment of corporate standards in the local business environment, modifying the requirements to fit the unique needs of their assigned business while maintaining the integrity of control methods. The Regional Safety Manager will serve as a collaborative, empowering, and customer-focused partner for our business leaders.

  • Develops, plans, implements, and conducts training for employees in work site safety practices with assistance from external safety consultants where necessary.
  • Conducts initial safety training for a newly hired field employees.
  • Maintains safety files, helps, or maintains OSHA logs for offices, and helps with environmental needs as they arise.
  • Performs safety inspections and post-accident investigations.
  • Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective actions or preventive measures.
  • Documents all employee files electronically for noncompliance with safety policies and procedures, recommends and performs disciplinary action as needed, and monitors employee behavior to ensure full compliance in the future.
  • Helps with selecting, making recommendations, and at times purchasing PPE for offices.
  • Conducts safety audits at job sites as well as attends contractor meetings.
  • Trains employees for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Heavy Equipment, Confined Space, LOTO, OSHA 10, OSHA 30,Risk Management, and other subjects as they are needed.
  • Assists with safety-related aspects of contract pre-qualifications.
  • Helps manage third party safety pre-qualification accounts such as ISN, Avetta, etc.
  • Works with upper management regarding safety compliance, concerns, and preventative corrective actions.
  • Assists in the monitoring of employee use of company vehicle through GPS monitoring and accepting calls from the public regarding driver behavior.
  • Works with Risk/Claims specialist on all workers’ compensation and auto claims including investigations, reporting, compliance, follow up care, and communication with third party administrator.
  • Assists with motor vehicle accident management of company vehicles.
  • Accurately interpret instructions and directives as assigned by supervisor.
  • Completes work in a timely manner and manages monthly field reports of indicators for offices covered.
  • Exercise a high level of independence and judgment in organizing, planning, prioritizing own work, and using time effectively.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, Engineering, or other closely related degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in workplace safety in a construction/general industry environment.
  • OSHA 510/511 certification required; OSHA 500 certification preferred.
  • Certified OSHA trainer, or eligible to obtain trainer authorization. Additional training recognized by BSCP is a plus.
  • Ability to pass various background checks as required state, federal, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
