Knife River - South is seeking a Regional Health & Safety Director to lead regional safety strategy and oversee the enterprise Safety Management System across Knife River business units. Located in MN/ND/SD/IA/TX, you will guide guidance, coaching, and risk reduction through continuous improvement and decisive leadership.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, construction, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Progressive safety leadership experience in mining, construction, heavy civil, or manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (MSHA, OSHA, DOT, BATFE, FRA).
• Experience developing or implementing Safety Management Systems and risk-reduction processes.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsabilidades

• Partner with operational leadership to align safety principles and systems regionally.
• Lead, mentor, and coach safety professionals within the region.
• Oversee the Safety Management System components and effectiveness.
• Serve as subject matter expert for health & safety and regulatory issues.
• Assist due diligence for acquisitions by reviewing past performance and systems.
• Coach safety team for leadership and succession planning.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety interactions.
• Oversee workers' compensation, auto liability, and general liability matters.
• Support incident investigations and ensure timely closure.
• Liaise with inspectors and manage warnings or citations.
• Monitor regional safety statistics and use analytics to improve initiatives.
• Develop and oversee regional safety programs (policies, risk assessments, audits, training).
• Communicate with KNF leadership on safety challenges and opportunities.
• Stay informed on agency rule making affecting KNF operations.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR regulations.
• Maintain safe work practices and prevent unsafe actions.
