Job summary

Forestar Group Inc. is seeking an Associate Region Real Estate Counsel for Washington to assist the Region Real Estate Counsel and coordinate legal matters across the region.

The role supports operations teams at the division level, handling routine real estate matters and escalating issues as needed. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating real estate contracts, coordinating closings with paralegals and outside counsel, reviewing title, survey, and environmental due diligence, and

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required and licensed to practice law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating real estate contracts.
• Due diligence including title, survey and environmental review.
• Ability to manage multiple real estate transactions in a high-volume setting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Region Counsel to guide region and division personnel on land acquisition, development, and disposition.
• Coordinate real estate closings with paralegals, division personnel and outside counsel.
• Review and revise contractor and subcontractor contract documents and negotiations.
• Provide business-focused legal guidance while identifying risks and compliance needs.
• Support land banking, development and related agreements; assist with outside counsel as needed.
• Manage a high volume of transaction work and prioritize deadlines.
