Job summary

Forestar Group Inc. is seeking an Associate Region Real Estate Counsel-FG WA to support the Region Real Estate Counsel in overseeing real estate matters across multiple markets.

You will handle routine transactions, draft and negotiate contracts, review title and environmental due diligence, and escalate high‑risk matters as needed. The role requires 2–3 years of real estate transaction experience, a valid law license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice law
• 2-3 years’ experience in real estate transactions in various markets
• Experience drafting and negotiating real estate contracts; due diligence review; land closings
• Flexibility to manage multiple transactions and projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills
• Proficient in time management and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Forestar-specific applications would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Region Counsel to provide legal guidance on land acquisition, development, and disposition
• Draft and negotiate contracts and related documents
• Review title, survey, and environmental due diligence
• Coordinate real estate closings with paralegals and outside counsel
• Provide business-focused legal guidance to internal clients and escalate risks
• Prepare HOA documents and support HOA Managers
• Coordinate with outside counsel on financing districts and bond issuances
• Support land banking, development, easements, and construction agreements
• Maintain standard contracts and related documents
• Work with finance, tax, risk, and operations to ensure policy compliance
• Help manage a high volume of transactions under Region Counsel guidance
• Supervise staff handling acquisition and development files
• Travel as needed to support regions
