BearCom Garland is seeking a Regional Product Specialist to lead hands-on deployments and optimization of P25, DMR LMR, PLTE, and dispatch communications systems across multiple sites. The role requires deep technical expertise, customer-facing leadership, and the ability to mentor local teams on best practices and installation procedures.

The candidate will oversee complex installations, troubleshoot issues on-site and remotely, and drive continuous improvement across BearCom’s regional service

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience with Motorola Capacity Max systems and LMR infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge of PLTE, P25, DMR systems and related RF fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Advise, mentor, and lead on installations, upgrades, and maintenance of PLTE, DMR, and P25 systems across sites.
• Manage resources for deployment of complex systems and integrations.
• Serve as SME for PLTE and LMR tech, including Capacity Max and Avtec consoles.
• Drive integration, optimization, and testing of critical communications networks.
• Provide hands-on training to field technicians and customers.

Position Title: Regional Product Specialist – P25/DMR LMR, PLTE & Dispatch Communications

Position Summary

The Regional Product Specialist is a highly experienced and technically proficient subject matter expert responsible to support local and enterprise level deployments, integration, and optimization of mission-critical communications systems, including Motorola Capacity Max trunked radio systems, Avtec Scout dispatch consoles, P25 infrastructure, Ericsson DOT PLTE and a wide range of LMR (Land Mobile Radio) equipment. This role requires deep hands‑on expertise, strong customer‑facing skills, and the ability to lead and manage complex installations and troubleshooting efforts across multiple sites. This includes mentoring local teams on proper installation procedures and best practices, managing integration, and optimization of critical communications system. This role will drive consistency, quality, and excellence in project execution across BearCom’s international service footprint.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise, mentor, lead, and local support teams on best practices for installations, upgrades, and maintenance of PLTE, DMR, and P25 critical communications systems to include RF sites, infrastructure, and console systems.
• Manages resources for deployment of complex systems.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for PLTE and LMR technologies, including analog, digital, P25 and trunked systems like Capacity Max, Link Capacity Plus, Avtec Consoles, Ericsson Dot, and associated infrastructure to include proper equipment grounding and best practice installation procedures.
• Manages the integration and optimization of critical communication systems.
• Provide technical guidance and hands‑on training to field technicians and customers.
• Collaborate on pre‑sales documentation and solution design with engineering and sales teams to ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
• Conduct site surveys, advance system testing, and develop acceptance and testing procedures when required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, both remotely and on‑site to support and mentor local service teams.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, installation procedures, build books, and as‑builts.
• Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, manufacturer certifications and vendor updates.
• Drive continuous improvement and quality across local service branches by mentoring, quality assurance checks, and leveraging lessons learned, automation, and process refinement.
• Mentor and develop high‑performing Service teams across BearCom’s regional service hubs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience with Motorola Capacity Max systems, Avtec Scout consoles, Ericsson Dot PLTE, LMR infrastructure maintenance and installation.
• Extensive knowledge of LMR communications equipment, including repeaters, base stations, subscriber units, and RF infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, system integration, and radio frequency (RF) principles.
• High level of experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues with complex critical communication systems.
• Proven experience in field service, system commissioning, and customer support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel regionally up to 40% of the time.
• Certifications such as Motorola R56, Avtec Certified Technician, Capacity Max, Ericsson DOT, and other manufacturer certifications or equivalent are highly desirable.

Travel Requirement

• Up to 40% travel to support service delivery teams, customer engagements, and issue resolutions with critical communication systems.
• Passport required.
• Accessibility to enter Canada and other international locations to support operational needs.

Physical Requirements

• Use machines, hand tools, equipment, and work aids including communications analyzers, test equipment, cable prep tool, laptops, and PC’s.
• Able to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs and ladders for rooftop access.
• Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions (e.g., climbing ladders and scaffolding, crawl spaces, high‑reach lift equipment, exposure to elements.
• Requires close visual attention to detail (blueprints, CAD designs, numeric/character data) and moderate hand‑finger dexterity.
